Opening September 9th: Aaron Rose “TROUBLE” Solo Show
With the solo show „TROUBLE“, Circleculture Gallery presents colourful „object paintings“, which give very personal and direct insights into Aaron Rose´s world.
Aaron Rose is perhaps best known as a curator. With his touring show Beautiful Losers and the documentary of the same name, he brought underground artists such as Harmony Korine, Barry McGee and Shepard Fairey to public attention, championing a DIY aesthetic informed by their various backgrounds as skaters, punk rock fans and graffiti writers.

Circleculture Gallery in Basel @VOLTA 6
Come visit us on this years Basel Art Fairs where we prepare a unique live painting appearance on the inernational art circus. Six artists (Nomad, Xoooox, Katrin Fridriks, Anton Unai, Jaybo Monk, Marco “Pho” Grassi) will overtake a huge wall on the backside of the industrial fair site situated directly on abandoned railway tracks. An urban surrounding which reminds the spirit of graffiti culture, the beatniks and the drifters, travelling artists and street philosophers. The artists will be painting and installing ongoing during the first and second day of the fair as well as partially until the last day. Being an official highlight of the Volta Basel Art Fair 2010 this appearance will innovate the boundaries of the traditional fair booth presentation and deliver to the public a hard to get live experience with some of the most talented urban artists in Europe.

KAWS featured in Interview Magazine
A little while ago, Interview magazine managed to organize a conversation between KAWS and L.A. based actor Tobey Maguire. The result is an interesting protocol that gives insight into the artist’s inspirations, the reltion between sculptures and paintings, an appreciated japanese fan base and the non-referral to political statements.
