Dear friends,
we cordially invite you to the Circleculture Gallery Weekend. We will begin on Friday, April 27th with the presentation of selected and new artworks by the artists: Stohead, Aaron Rose, Vhils, Stefan Strumbel, Olivia Steele, Marco “Pho” Grassi, Jaybo Monk, Katrin Fridriks and Markus Mahren. On this occasion we will celebrate the book launch of XOOOOX’ s monograph recently published by Gestalten Verlag. The book will be available for purchase and a selection of new artworks will be on show. Later in the evening Olivia Steele invites you to her highly inspiring artist studio “Atelier Paradis” for a great night with drinks and music. rsvp only!!

KATRIN FRIDRIKS: LEAK OF INFORMATION - SOLO SHOW
Katrin Fridriks will exhibit her first solo show at the Circleculture Gallery in Berlin.
Have you ever had this odd feeling that they do not tell us everything, that some elements of the story are deliberately hidden? Either the lie is too big to be swallowed or the truth is so well concealed that the affair is known a long time after, thanks to people who have led an investigation, decoding messages and in many case have fought against a system. This is what “Leak of Information” means and with what it deals. The bells are ringing: (public) awareness!

“Hazardous Brushstrokes” - New paintings by Jaybo Monk
Opening: September 30, 2010 7 PM: New works by Jaybo Monk at Circleculture Gallery. With the solo show „HAZARDOUS BRUSHSTROKES“, Jaybo Monk explores how the process of painting becomes uncontrollable and takes on a life of its own. The success of the paintings is not dependent on the artist´s will, but rather on his intuition and pure accident.

Aufbau: Stefan Strumbel “Home Sweet Home”
In wenigen Stunden eröffnet in der Circleculture Gallery die neue Ausstellung “Home Sweet Home” mit Stefan Strumbel (mehr Infos dazu gibt es hier). Der Künstler aus dem Schwarzwald ist schon seit einigen Tagen in Berlin, so dass wir beim Aufbau ein wenig filmen konnten. Um 19 Uhr beginnt heute das Opening (Gipsstrasse 11) und für die, die keine Zeit haben, vorbeizukommen, gibt es Editionen u.ä. im Onlineshop.

The idea of this exhibition is to approach the historical theme of self-portraits and to bring it into a contemporary art context. A self-portrait is a representation of an artist, drawn, painted, photographed, or sculpted by the artist. Although self-portraits have been made by artists since the earliest times, it is not until the Early Renaissance in the mid 1400s that artists can be frequently identified depicting themselves as either the main subject, or as important characters in their work. With better and cheaper mirrors, and the advent of the panel portrait, many painters, sculptors and printmakers tried some form of self-portraiture… In this respect it will be an interesting and new experience to show the vision of the “self-portrait” by contemporary urban artists from all over the world.

BILDERRAHMEN JANECKI - DIE FEINE KUNST DES RAHMENS UND RAUNENS
Wenn es im zeitgenössischen Handwerk noch einen Kult gibt, ist Bilderrahmen Janecki in der Berliner Gipsstrasse sicherlich ganz vorne mit dabei. Das zur Strasse hin offene Rahmenbauer-Atelier, direkt gegenüber unserer Circleculture Gallery ist mehr als ein nur Ort, an dem Holz, Leim und Pappe den Kunstwerken aller Genres zu einem geschütztem und aufgewertetem Dasein verhelfen.

XOOOOX - HIV AD BUSTING
Street artist XOOOOX overtook Berlin streets again! Last night the artist changed two advertising billboards into rioting street art pieces. Right in the heart of Germany’s capital: Berlin Mitte.
After overpainting existing billboard ads with white colour, XOOOOX created fake “H&M” advertisings. With help of stencil and spray can technique the brand Logo of the multi-national fashion brand has been modified to “HIV”. Like his British colleague BANKSY XOOOOX is an acclaimed artist which is shown in international art auctions together with artists like Damien Hirst, Andy Warhol,Terence Koh and Anselm Reyle. If you want to learn more about XOOOOX: The artist runs an exhibition at Berlin’s Circleculture Gallery until Sep 1o th, tue-sat rom 2-6 pm.

NEW HIGH FASHION IN MITTE
Wir freuen uns die Eröffnung von Geometry, einem exklusiven High Fashion Store für Männer in Berlin Mitte, ankündigen zu dürfen. Mitte März 2008 eröffnet Geometry in der Gipsstrasse 23 in Berlin-Mitte. Die beiden Inhaber Raphael Meyer und Carmen Santos präsentieren eine Kombination alltagstauglicher Männermode und ausgewählter Luxusartikel.
Das Konzept von Geometry lässt sich als eine Art Achsensystem verstehen: Horizontal sind die Looks der Kollektionen von Gaspard Yurkievich, Irie Wash, Y3 oder Won Hundred angeordnet. Vertikal befinden sich die Highlights für Darunter und zum Ergänzen: Under- und Beachwear sowie Accessoires von John Galliano in Verbindung mit Wohnaccessoires von zeitgenössischen Designern wie Gijs Bakker und Arik Levy und sorgfältig ausgewählten Beauty- und Skincare-Produkten.

Die Ausstellung „Berliner Strasse.“ ist der Versuch den Begriff Street Art aus einer erweiterten Perspektive zu betrachten. Sie zeigt sieben Künstler aus Berlin, die in ihrem Schaffen und durch ihre Biographie einen authentischen Bezug zu zeitgenössischer Straßenkultur herstellen, aber nicht immer dem hiesigen Begriff der Street Art zuzuordnen sind. Die gezeigten Positionen reflektieren sowohl die Kunst auf der Straße, wie auch die Straße in der Kunst.
Ein “Berliner Strasse.” Katalog ist in der Ausstellung erhältlich so lange der Vorrat reicht.

Die Circleculture Gallery zeigt den französischen Künstler und Wahlberliner Jaybo aka Monk: „Old scars and new injuries are the beauty of the eternal now“ vom 27. September bis 16. November in Berlin.
Jaybo thematisiert in seiner neusten Ausstellung die Spanne zwischen Vergangenheit und Zukunft. Die Faszination dieser Zeiteinheit und der Drang, diese künstlich zu erweitern, lassen den Künstler mit verschiedenen Medien arbeiten.

ANTON UNAI
Die Circleculture Gallery stellt vom 01. Juni 2007 bis zum 15. August 2007 die Arbeiten des in Berlin lebenden Katalanen Anton Unai vor.
Wenn Anton Unai ausstellt, kann man mit allem rechnen. In der Bandbreite seiner Arbeit von Zeichnungen, Malerei, Skizzen, Collagen, Performance, Scherenschnitt, Installation bis zur Skulptur, gerät die Materie außer Form. Unai entdeckt immer wieder neue Möglichkeiten, mit denen er seine Gedanken zum Ausdruck bringt. Die Ausstellung in der Circleculture Gallery wird einer Grenzen sprengenden Installation gleichen. Einem Ausbruch aus der klassischen Präsentationsform der Galerie. Die Kreativität des Künstlers annektiert den Raum: radikal, frei, grenzenlos.

CREATURES…NEW WORKS BY DERRICK HODGSON
Circleculture Gallery & Pictoplasma präsentieren: Creatures…new works by Derrick Hodgson als Teil des Pictoplasmawalks vom 11. Oktober 2006 bis zum 15. Januar 2007 in der Circleculture Gallery, Gipsstrasse 11, Berlin, Mitte. Opening: Mittwoch, 11. Oktober 2006. Öffnungszeiten: Mo.-Fr., 12 - 18 Uhr.
Derrick Hodgson wuchs auf einer Farm auf und zog anschließend nach Toronto. Dieser Wechsel von der Natur zu einer städtischen Umgebung war der Nährboden für Mania – seine komplexe visuelle Welt, die von mutierten Charakteren bevölkert ist. “Creatures…die Inspiration kommt von meiner Gartenarbeit im Frühling und Sommer… wachsen… pflegen… pflanzen… beobachten, dass alles lebendig wird… Im Garten sieht man so viele Arten von Kreaturen.”

Der in Paris lebende Künstler begeistert die Welt durch den liebevollen, naiv-ironischen Stil seiner Grafiken und Graffitis. In Japan und Frankreich schon längst als lebende Legende der Kunstszene gefeiert, kommt er jetzt erstmals nach Deutschland.
Schon in seiner frühen Jugend macht André von sich reden. Er ist der geistige Vater des “Mr. A“, einer Comic-Figur, die untrennbar mit der Pariser Graffiti-Szene verbunden ist und sich in den letzten Jahren zum absoluten Kult entwickelt hat. Am liebsten kreiert er seine Farbwände im schwarzen Anzug und mit Aktenkoffer. Laut André schöpft beim Anblick eines Investment-Bankers niemand Verdacht, Zeuge einer “illegalen“ Künstleraktion zu sein.
